92 年Curt Smith离去后Roland Orzabal以Tears For Fears名义发表的个人专辑——集词曲、所有乐器、演唱于一身，这张专辑散发出一种被好友离弃后的苍凉中又带有些超脱的感情。对于Roland演唱的评 价：“如同山峰上一位世外使者俯看世间，低郁中是一道直通心底的电波，音域宽广，真假声都非常精确干脆，丝毫没有拖曳的迹象，既有年轻的激越也有成年的豁 达。”
1992 年的精选专辑《Tears Roll Down (Greatest Hits 82-92)》后，严重的内部矛盾影响着 Tears For Fears 乐队，Roland Orzabal 和 Curt Smith之间总是进行着激烈的争吵，结果就是导致 Curt Smith 在1990年离开 Tears For Fears。1993年，仅有Roland Orzabal 一人独支的 Tears For Fears 乐队推出了的第四张专辑《Elemental》。《Elemental》是 Roland Orzabal 与全新的音乐人合作的结晶，专辑录制工作人员中他一人完成了大部分歌曲的创作、主唱了所有的歌曲，参与了专辑的制作。
